LocationLancaster County, Central Park
Organized ByConestoga River Club
If you haven’t been to one of these clean ups yet, you’re flat missing out. We will be tackling the County Park Corridor starting at the bottom of the Duke Street bridge working down stream. This is a wade in event with shore based support and clean up needs. Children under 16 are welcome with parents and legal guardians. Gloves, bags, and pickers will be available. Wade in boat crews will be split into two teams, with a “captain” for each to act as volunteer lead and safety PoC.
Long sleeves and pants are recommended for the shore based teams, as there will be hemlock, nettles, poison ivy and biting insects. We also require closed toed shoes with good traction as the river bank will be muddy and slick. please bring a reusable water bottle as we do our best to reduce single use plastics, clod water coolers will be available for refills.
It’s hard work, but easily one of the coolest things you’ll do this year, trust me, we’ve done a few now. The best part is the tradition of wrapping every event with pizza and beverages, because that’s where you get to meet those who spent the morning helping you make the world a better place, and become a Wrecking Crew member.
See you there!
